Christogram

Have you ever wondered WHY the hands of the Catholic/Orthodox Jesus are position like this?

What reason do the Greek Orthodox and Roman Catholics give......"This is a 'gesture' known as the Christogram, and is considered the original “sign of the cross.” The fingers are positioned to form the Greek letters ICXC, an abbreviation of the Greek name of Christ: IHCOYC XRICTOC. This gesture is ubiquitous in Renaissance images of Christ and the apostles, as well as in portraits of Saints and clergy." The Christogram is used today as a traditional gesture of blessing by priests. Also look up the Chi Rho (ΧΡ), that is what you see on Francis' staff here.

We need to see with spiritual eyes. There is a spiritual battle going on everyday. (Ephesians 6:12) Personally I find it strange that the Jesus in their pictures is forming his own name with his hand. Something just doesn't sounds right. Curiously, the same gesture is known in Hindu and Buddhist tradition as the 'Prithvi mudra'. Mudras have been depicted in Buddhist/Hindu imagery for centuries.

"The Prithvi mudra is a symbolic, ritualistic gesture of the hands often used in Ayurveda or a spiritual yoga practice to promote self healing and spiritual balance within the body.

A 'Sanskrit' (language of Hinduism) term, prithvi means "the vast one" (goddess-Mother Earth) and is also the name for Earth; Mudra means "gesture," "mark" or "seal." In this mudra, the tips of the ring fingers are pressed to the tips of the thumbs on each hand, while the other fingers are kept straight. "yogapedia com"

Surya or Ravi means the Sun in Nepal and India. Thus 'Ravi Mudra' (Seal of Life or Seal of Sun) It promotes self healing. Google a few images of "Ravi Mudra" or "Prithvi mudra" and you will see the same gesture as in this picture of Jesus.

In The Roman Catholic Church there is much talk about The Mother, and The Mother Earth, and the Sun. This is why I bring this all up. It's just a very strange coincidence that these religions are using the same "Mudra/Gesture" don't you think?

Also Yoga comes from the Hindu, Buddhist, and Jainism religion. Yoga’s history can be traced back to over 5,000 years ago or more. So why do I bring up Yoga, well, there is a big movement right now of 'Christians' practicing yoga, some even having yoga classes in their churches.

A believer who studies the Word, should instantly see red flags and discern that Yoga and The Father's Word are not compatible. Yoga is not for believers, it's aim is to altered your state of consciousness. Meditation guides claim that normal consciousness obscures sacred realities. Therefore, meditation is practiced in order to suspend rational patterns of thought. They want you to find "enlightenment" something the Bible never calls us to do (Rom. 12:1-2). In fact, suspending our critical capacities through meditation opens the soul to deception and even to spiritual bondage. Also look up Kundalini, this is very dangerous. Okay that's enough on yoga.

To many they would see this mudra/hand gestures as merely a coincidence. However there's some very interesting writing out there on mudras, the similarities between Catholicism/Orthodox and Buddhism, the ancient Indian/Greek relationship, symbolism, and more. I encourage you to do your own reading and researching.

I would like to add one more thing for you to ponder on…

Ancient palmistry was practiced in the cultures of India, Tibet, China, Persia, Sumeria, ancient Israel and Babylonia. The basic framework for "classical" palmistry (the most widely taught and practiced tradition) is rooted in Greek mythology. Each area of the palm and fingers is related to a god or goddess. For example, the index finger Zeus, the middle finger Saturn, the RING finger Apollo the SUN god, little finger Mercury. The thumb is the only finger not named for a Greek god. It represent will, self-assertion and Universal.

So to some this all up, it's good to consider what The Roman Catholic Church is really saying through their pictures. With their heavy influenced by Greek Mythology, (google Greek statues at the Vatican) and their Mother Earth/Nature teaching along with a strong belief in hand gestures (such as crossing one self with their hand) and their Christogram.

Shall we say. "A picture is worth a thousand words."
