Christmas 'Magic' Mushroom (Post 13)

Shall we touch on the Christmas 'Magic' Mushroom.

We're all very familiar with this distinctive red and white speckled cap mushroom, because they are commonly seen in children's book and known to be seen with fairies. You might also see them as a lawn ornament next to a gnome. Or in children's movies like Alice in Wonderland or the Smurfs. As well as video games such as Super Mario Brothers. All of the above, related to magic and children. Hmm!

This Mushroom called 'Amanita muscaria' or 'Fly agaric', is one of the most recognized mushrooms in the world. Most are aware of the psychedelic powers of these mushrooms that have been used for thousands of years. Now it can be deadly 'IF' consumed improperly. Many different cultures boil out the toxins and then dry the mushrooms.

It's know that Siberian Shamans would even drink the urine of reindeer who ate these mushrooms.

These mushrooms were highly regarded, and were used for divination, healing purposes, religious sacraments and to contact spirits.

It's said that up until a few hundred years ago, practicing Shamans or Priests connected to the older traditions would collect Amanita muscaria (the Holy Mushroom), dry them and then give them as gifts on the winter solstice. Hmm!

It's interesting to note that these mushrooms are commonly found to grow at the base of the pine tree, and viewed as little 'gifts' under these ever green trees.

But how else would this tie into 'Christmas'?...
"Is it possible that the folktale about Santa Claus finds its roots in the psychedelic mushroom-eating shamanism of people living in boreal regions of Europe? While there is some contention around this theory, there are a number of undeniable motifs connecting Santa’s yearly trip drawn by flying reindeer, and the analogous rituals of an isolated peoples’ use of the psychedelic Amanita muscaria mushroom."

Now this is a debatable subject, but the bottom line is these mushroom represent 'Magic' OR a 'Mind Alternating Substance' and we have proof of them being another 'Christmas Symbol' through Christmas ornaments and Christmas cards. So it's up to you to decide what to believe. I will leave a very interesting video in the comments for you. It's 20 minutes, but it's packed filled with info on these mushrooms and it's connections to Christmas. Thanks Sis Eden Planter for sharing the video with me.

Much love!
